Community-Based Instruction (CBI)

Community-Based Instruction (CBI) is a crucial component of the Adult Transition Program at Royal Sunset campus for San Lorenzo Unified School District. This instructional strategy promotes the teaching and use of academic and functional skills in the students' natural environment, preparing them for life after high school.

 

Students visit local businesses, places for leisure/recreation, restaurants, grocery shopping, government offices and services, and cultural venues all to help students develop their

  • Community mobility
  • Social and communication skills
  • Self-advocacy
  • Functional academics

 

WorkAbility I (WAI)

WorkAbility I (WAI) is a crucial component of Adult Transition Programs, designed to support students with disabilities as they transition from high school to adult life. The program, funded and administered by the California Department of Education, focuses on preparing students for employment, independent living, and post-secondary education or training.

 

Key features of the WorkAbility program include:

  • Comprehensive pre-employment skills training

  • Opportunity for students to gain marketable job skills 

  • Collaboration with local businesses for internships and job training

 

Social Events
