Family Involvement

Families can support the San Lorenzo Unified Adult Transition Program at Royal Sunset campus in many ways. By actively engaging in these ways, families can play a crucial role in supporting their adult children's transition to independence and success in the San Lorenzo Unified Adult Transition Program at Royal Sunset campus.
 

Participate in Transition Planning

  • Attend all transition planning meetings and actively contribute to discussions.
  • Share your vision for your adult child's future and work collaboratively with the team to set realistic goals.
  • Provide input on your child's strengths, needs, and interests through various assessments.

Engage in Communication

  • Maintain frequent, two-way communication with teachers and staff.
  • Provide feedback on your child's services, progress toward goals, and any necessary changes to the transition plan.
  • Stay informed by regularly checking emails, district websites, and local news for updates.

Support Skill Development

  • Encourage your adult child's self-determination and independent living skills at home.

  • Explore ABLE Accounts, which are tax-advantaged savings accounts for individuals with disabilities.
