SLZUSD Board Unanimously Backs Medina as its President for 2024

Dec. 20, 2023

The San Lorenzo Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved Trustee Samuel Medina as its new president for 2024 on Dec. 19. He will succeed Kyla Sinegal, who has served in that role for the past two years.

Medina, employed with Village Properties & Associates in San Lorenzo, is an SLZUSD alum who joined the board in 2017 when he was appointed to fill a one-year board vacancy. He has since been twice reelected.

Following his appointment as president, he pledged to continue to "lead with love and lead with emotion and by spirit and faith,” adding, “This district has made me who I am. I am committed to being the best version of myself I can for the position and will be relying on everybody to help me be that."

Trustee Alicia Gonzalez was unanimously chosen as board vice president, replacing Juan Campos, who has served in that role for the past year. In addition, Peck was chosen to represent SLZUSD on the board of the Eden Area Regional Occupational Program Center in Hayward, and Gonzalez will continue to serve on the board of the Mid-Alameda County Special Education Local Plan Area, known as the MAC SELPA.
